GRAND RAPIDS, MICH., – Yesterday, Lynn Afendoulis, candidate for Michigan’s 3rd Congressional seat, sent a letter to the other four candidates running in the August 4th primary asking to hold multiple debates or candidate forums and three have agreed. With that, the campaigns now are seeking forum hosts.
“This is a real win for the voters of the 3rd District and West Michigan,” Afendoulis said. “Now that there is agreement from the campaigns, we will coordinate with them to find hosts.”
She added, “The voters are the real winners here. And I am encouraged that the other candidates want to give them multiple chances to hear from each of us directly. I look forward to joining the other candidates in each of these events.”
Background information on forums to date:
There have been four candidate forums or debates. Lynn Afendoulis and Tom Norton have attended all of them. Joe Farrington, Emily Rafi and Peter Meijer attended two.
Lynn is running for Congress because she believes we are fighting for the very fabric of who and what we are–the things that President Trump is fighting for and that attracted her grandparents to this country. She wants to protect the rule of law and represent the people of the 3rd District in a way that they’ve been yearning for – with integrity, engagement, and effectiveness. And to show her children that this is all worth fighting for.
