Lynn Afendoulis, Candidate for State House, Announces Broad Support from Community Leaders

Grand Rapids, Mich. – April 30, 2018 – Local businesswoman and community leader Lynn Afendoulis is pleased to announce a number of endorsements from government officials and business and community leaders as she seeks to become the next representative of the people of Michigan’s 73rd house district.

  “I am honored to have the support and confidence of these leaders early in our campaign,” Afendoulis said. “Now, I look forward to earning the same from the hard-working families and taxpayers throughout the 73rd district in the weeks and months to come.”

The 73rd House District encompasses the townships of Grand Rapids, Plainfield, Cannon, Oakfield, Spencer, Nelson and Courtland and the city of East Grand Rapids. Afendoulis said she is pleased her support is coming from all areas of the district.

Said Kent County Commissioner Ted Vonk: “In getting to know Lynn Afendoulis and her candidacy for the 73rd district, I’ve found her to be a person of integrity who is interested in her community, who listens carefully and who isn’t afraid to ask tough questions.”

State Representative Rob VerHeulen endorsed Lynn saying, “Lynn has the skills, the integrity, the drive and the energy we need in our state legislators. She’ll be a strong representative of the people of Michigan’s 73rd district.”

Ambassador Peter Secchia, former chairman of Universal Forest Products, Inc., said: “Lynn works hard, doesn’t understand the word ‘impossible,’ and is a creative problem-solver who likes a good challenge. She is genuine and has a high standard of integrity. I am pleased to endorse her.”

Former Secretary of State for Michigan Terri Lynn Land, said: “Lynn is the kind of person we need working for us in Lansing. She is smart, hard-working, resourceful, creative and humble. I know she will bring her can-do spirit to the capitol to take on the serious challenges facing our state.”

Said Mark Murray, vice chairman of Meijer: “I’d want Lynn on my team for any important undertaking. I’m grateful she is offering to serve in the Michigan House. I endorse her without reservation.”

Joan Secchia, who preceded Lynn as president of the board of the Student Advancement Foundation (which supports Grand Rapids Public Schools), said: “... Lynn has quality education at heart and I know she will work diligently on behalf of our youth and on all issues she addresses for the people of her district. I am pleased to endorse her.”

Kent County Commission Chairman Jim Saalfield said, “As an elected official for the past eight years, I know ethical, knowledgeable and passionate candidates when I meet them. Lynn Afendoulis is such a person…. She brings to the table well-developed business and communication skills, leadership, a solid work ethic, and a devotion to doing the right thing. We need Lynn Afendoulis in Lansing!”
